Our love for ALL Animals, a new pet for us!

After MUCH convincing, we finally convinced Dad (Nate) to let animals into our home.  The trick is... catch him off guard, say, at 3 in the morning when you both can't sleep.  Then he's puddy in your hands!  HA!

Meet Spike and Axel... our brother #boymom guinea pigs!  We adopted them from another family who couldn't care for them.  And Mom (me) is most excited about their cool cage!  Ha!  They really are sweet, they eat a ton of veggies, and love the boys.  I know, I know... we'll see how long this lasts.  But for now, welcome to the family little rodents!

The other pictures here are of some of the animals we play with.  We like to visit animals and cuddle them.  Then give them back.  ha!

Not sure if it's the thrill of the hunt, or the actual chicken we like more at Papa Rick's

Our friend Katie gives us riding lessons - Eclipse and Jesse are SO sweet!  We love racing the barrels with them!

Spike and Axel - brothers and buddies!

Can we keep them, Mom!?!?

Awwww Axel, we love you!

Last, and First, day of school!!

May 2017 - it's the end of school, we didn't think we'd make it!  But.... here we are a having fun too!  We threw a huge hawaiian party for all the kids to celebrate the end of the year.  We dressed up in our floral shirts, did some hula dancing, and ate some snacks.  It was a great end to a weird and crazy year.  We sure do love our teachers - they helped us get through all this madness and made learning fun and school a good place to go.  I'm sure when we look back it will all be a distant memory.... and I know that our kids are fine.  They barely even notice anything is weird/wrong.  Not sure what the next year will bring (see below for this answer), but I'm guessing it'll be awesome!  As long as we have each other!

Last day of Kindy!  Hawaiian Luau day!
Miss Amber was our preschool teacher

Mrs Clay and Cohen - we have become friends with her family and just adore them!

Our first day of school!  It's a NEW year!  We are headed to a NEW school called KingsWay Christian Academy!  We have all our friends, all our favorite teachers, and we can even have Chapel!  What an exciting (and also nervewracking) time for us!  We have learned how to roll with the punches.  We have toured so many schools and prayed about what is best for our family.  We have decided that community, friends, and God are what we need in a school.  So we opted to 'give KingsWay a try.'  Luckily, we have Mrs Huntley for our first grade teacher - she is amazing!!  We can't wait to see how this all turns out, what we learn from all of this, and how we can be better humans after everything we've seen.
Fun 'growth' shirts to capture our 'bigness' each year

Cohen best pose.... with big muscles!

Yep, he'll grow right into this shirt.... hopefully not too soon!

Family trip.... to Vegas!!.....also how we cope

April 2017 - This is a weird time for the Harris Family...... Our first shake up in life.  I have to say, I'm writing this a few years AFTER the fact, so my perspective is very different..... plus a LOT more has happened since then that follows this story so I'm guessing this would have been written differently had I written during this event, rather than 3 years later!   I'm also going to keep the drama short and sweet (see my journal for the raw stuff).  Here goes......

It's our first year of 'real school' for Cohen - Kindergarten!  We go 1/2 days, which is awesome.  He wears a uniform and has an amazing teacher!  He can read and write and loves school.  Evan also goes to preschool part time.  Same school, so they see each other across the hall.  Very cool!  We fell in love with this school, Castle Rock Christian Academy, for it's director.  He was charming, Jesus loving, strong leadership, and his teaching philosophy seemed to align with ours.  While we don't love the church this school is affiliated with (and shares a building with) we see how God can work and be a part of school everyday.  The Director teaches our kids how to shake hands and talk confidently to adults.  It's really cool.... almost a skill I didn't even know we needed but totally do!!!

So, when the director GOT FIRED just 4 weeks before school was out for summer, we did the only thing we felt good about doing..... we went to Vegas!!!  Yep, outta here!  It felt unjust and unfair - the Church saying that he was fired because 'some things he didn't align with their morals and values.'  No real explanation, nothing that felt like this action was justified.

So, off we went!  Nate was planning this trip for business - he and his Uncle Pete had a trade show there and we tagged along.  We got to meet up with Pete, Sally, and Aunt Carol who were also there for the trade show.  We stayed at The Delano first, they have the best pool.  We ate and played all around there and then moved to the Paris Hotel where things are a bit closer.... we saw all the fun stuff and tried not to get too over stimulated.  LOTS to see (and unsee) in Vegas - food, stores, people, shows.  It's quite different being there with kids, but we still had a great time!  Here's some pics

Cool Photo Ops all around!  @ Delano
When it's too cold for the pool, we snorkel in the giant tub!
