It was your 'typical' 5 year old birthday party this year - 5 friends, cake, loud, busy, wild, super fun boys running around the house. They played, they giggled, they had a great time! If I've learned anything over the years about birthday parties, it's that I often 'do them' for myself. I plan and plan - a theme, matching everything, custom this and that, all to hype it up so much that it comes and goes and I'm spent. So this year, I tried something different - simple. Gasp, I know! And it's a good thing because the day before we had a huge snow storm and I didn't think anyone was going to come! Luckily, everyone stayed put the day before so we were alllllll cabin crazy the day of the party. It worked out well!
While we did have a 'ninja' theme, it wasn't super 'Martha Stewart' (sad for mom). Just simple. Cohen's 5 close friends from school came over, we ate cake, batted at a ninja pinata and called it a day. It was awesome! (for all of us!)
Sappy Mom Alert - This boy makes me one proud Mama. He has a heart of GOLD (I'm not kidding), can love and welcome anyone as a friend, is kind, chivalrous, patient, intelligent (borderline genius, thanks to Grandpa Jim), and always happy. I am speechless, but also always in awe of him. Even when he thinks no one is looking, he does the right thing. I am beyond in love and proud to call him Son. He is a GREAT big brother, a good friend, and kind of a ladies man! ..... I could go on, but it'll bore my readers to tears!
