It's important to have 'things you love'.... for me it's running and horses. Self Care is a MUST and I have found some things that speak to my soul.
It's such a chore (for real) to train to run, but it also keeps me sane and healthy and gives me something to strive for. I'm not fast. It ain't pretty. I never win. But I love it. I love running, eating whatever I want, and the friends I've made along the way.
And well... horses. They'll always be a part of my life... whether I am around them or not. They are in my blood. I happened to find a place this year that speaks to me. I found a small horse rescue that lets me come and groom and care for the horses. More below.

| Sarah and I running the Indy 500 1/2 Marathon in May 2017.... we flew to IN and stayed with Aunt Kathy |
| We actually run ON the 500 track! It's about 2-3 miles on the track, over the finish line. SO COOL!! |
| Passing by the pits, or the finish line. I don't remember but it was so cool! |
| After the race - our hosts were awesome! |
| Finish Line! Our sweet reward! I ran the race in 2:18, about right for me! So fun! |
| Sweet reward - a beer and a medal! |

All showered and ready to play in the cool town of Indy!

These are my horses... well, not mine really but I love them still. I don't know their names anymore but when you look into their eyes you wish they could talk and tell you all the stories their life entails. They have these pasts... some more harsh than others. They have trauma, some so much they won't let you near them or even to come close. They are skinny. Neglected. Hurting. Sore, in pain. You never know and it's so cool. I've never been around a horse that wasn't totally ok with humans....they are so amazing. The rescue is called Drifter's Hearts Of Hope and I am really enjoying it.... I get to groom and horses, tend to them, let them out to pasture, whatever is needed. I've lunged a few, although I'm not that good at it. Just the smell makes me happy.

Here are a few more running pics. My goal is to run 2 1/2 marathons per year, spring and fall. While I train I get to run the other, shorter distances, like the Hot Chocolate 9k, with friends and close girls! As Always, the reward is amazing and it is such a fun time! I think this was also a 5k too.... also so fun and speedy with these girls!

This race was epic also! One of my faves for sure..... of course it was in Las Vegas ON THE STRIP, what's not to love!?!?! Such a cool race. I ran with my 2 long time running friends (who are much more hard core), Marina and Malia. We also met up with a few other friends, including Jill Freear. We stayed at the Paris Hotel, ate InNOut, Hash House A go-go, and walked over 7k steps before the race even started! It was a night race, so all the lights were on, music played, people everywhere. We ran from the far end of the strip near Luxor allllll the way to downtown Vegas (the older part) and back. We finished in time to go out and play too.... Marina and I took High Roller ferris wheel, ate InNOut and stayed out late! It was awesome!
| I don't know how many people ran this race but it was cool to see my name in allllll the other thousands of names. |
| Carb loading the night before.... since the race is at night, this is totally ok, right!?! |
| On the High Roller.... after we ran! |
| Running the Strip!!! SO COOL! |
| Dusk, before the race started. I had to use the bathroom and waited about 10 minutes at mile 1.... my time was 2:13, which is a PR for me!!! |
| Obligatory shoe pic |
| The girls before the race! |
| Pancake breakfast before our big day!! |
| Our plane leaves later today, so why not have a Bloody Mary for breakfast! It practically came with a whole meal! |
